Many neurodivergent children and young people find that mainstream schools — with busy classrooms, overwhelming sensory environments, and limited resources — simply aren’t equipped to meet their needs. Recent data shows that SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) cases continue to rise, yet support often remains inadequate. At Staffordshire Neurodiversity and Psychology Service (SNAPS), we believe that every child deserves an environment where they can thrive — not just cope. This article examines the challenges in mainstream education, explores recent government efforts to improve inclusion, and argues for greater awareness, support, and understanding for neurodivergent learners.
